The Catholic Church are proposing to undertake a large development on the site of Our Lady Help of Christians on Oxford Street, Epping in conjunction with the developer, Stocklands.
There will be an open Community Information Session held on Tuesday 19th June, between 5-8pm in the church parish hall on the site. This is a great opportunity for the community to hear what is proposed before the Development Application is lodged with Council and ask questions.
The proposal includes rebuilding the primary school on the left hand side of the Church, facing Oxford Street (where the old school building is), building a new Parish Hall on the right hand side (where the rectory currently is), knocking down the existing school facing Cambridge street and building a large tower comprising of aged care and retirement living units. There would be underground car parking for both the residents of the tower, and the church parishioners.
As this is involves extensive densification of the site, the Trust encourages locals to attend the meeting and hear more about it. Its our chance to ask the hard questions and speak up on concerns and ways in which the project could be of benefit to the whole community. The Trust welcomes the move to hold community consultation - it's a pity more developers don't do this.
