November meeting – 19th of November 2024

November meeting – 19th of November 2024

The Trust will be holding a General Meeting on Tuesday the 19th of November 2024 at 7.30pm. Meeting to be held in the hall at the rear of the Church of Christ, Bridge St, Epping. Light refreshments will be served from 7 pm before the meeting.

Agenda:
1) Welcome and Apologies
2) President’s report
3) Tribute to Clr Lorraine Wearne who retired from the City of Parramatta Council after 29 years representing Epping on the Council.

4) Opportunity to meet some of our newly elected representatives.

The main focus of the meeting is an open discussion on our priorities for the new Epping Town Master Plan, for which the City of Parramatta Council is currently laying the groundwork. At its Meeting on 12 August 2024, Council endorsed the scope to undertake the Epping Town Centre Master Plan.  Council staff are currently preparing the initial tasks for this project including seeking internal technical advice, preparing a community consultation strategy, reviewing previous community feedback, and undertaking analysis of previous planning and specialist technical advice.  This is in advance of initial community engagement and detailed site analysis.
The previous Master Plan for Epping was developed in 2016-2018

Suggested topics for discussion include the interface between high rise residential development and low rise residential dwellings; heritage conservation areas; transport, traffic and connectivity for the East and West sides of Epping; pedestrian-friendly streets and tree canopy; need for more recreational open space and community open space, or “a gathering place”; and the loss of commercial and retail space in Epping Town Centre.
While we will certainly identify problems, we should also seek solutions that we can advocate for to the Council.

New members are welcome to join at the door.
